Calls to replace Biden face pushback by Biden allies and Republicans

Biden allies and Republicans push back against calls for Biden to be replaced as the Democratic nominee

In the wake of growing calls for President Joe Biden to be replaced as the Democratic nominee, two groups are pushing back against these calls: Biden loyalists and Republicans.

Following the recent CNN debate, a wave of Biden supporters took to social media to counter demands for Biden to step down. Harry Sisson, a pro-Biden TikToker with over 900,000 followers, initially said that Biden was winning in the debate against Trump.

Following the debate, Sisson stated:

“A 90-minute debate shouldn’t negate 3 and a half years of progress. I’m voting for Biden because he has a vision, a goal, and an outlook for America. Trump cares about himself, and only himself.”

Following the debate, the Biden campaign sent out an email to supporters, stating:

“The bedwetting brigade is calling for Joe Biden to ‘drop out.’ That is the best possible way for Donald Trump to win and us to lose.”

On the Republican side, however, the sentiments differed for a completely different reason. According to a new Fox News article, some House Republicans worry about Democrats replacing Biden with another candidate.

Users on social media shared those concerns as well. Conservative radio talk show host Michael Berry posted on X, saying, “Democrats: PLEASE don’t replace Joe Biden.”

In response to a post by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, one user said, “Hopefully they don’t replace him. Nothing will make me happier than for Dems to keep propping up Biden until November, there aren’t enough ballot printers in the world to keep Trump from winning.”

When Representative Chip Roy (R-TX) of Texas referenced the 25th Amendment in a post questioning Biden’s mental capability, one user responded, “Let it be! We want Biden to run. Easy win for Trump.”

Top Democratic Party officials have been working to calm supporters in the aftermath of the debate. However, reports suggest that donors are panicking behind the scenes, with some reportedly seeking refunds for their contributions. It’s unclear if President Biden will seriously consider not seeking re-election.
