Five years after the pandemic lockdowns, a winner seems to be emerging in how Glendale Community College students prefer to learn: a mix of both. In the 2025-26 school year, 44.9% of credit students chose hybrid classes, a combination of in-person and online instruction, while 38% enrolled in online-only and just 16.6% for in-person-only courses.
Delivery mode data published by GCC shows distance education spiking to 98.5% of credit enrollment in the 2020-21 academic year, before settling into the mid-30% range in recent years. In-person-only credit enrollment followed the inverse pattern, dropping to just 0.1% in 2020-21 before stabilizing in the low double digits post-pandemic.
Meanwhile, enrollment has already recovered from its pandemic dip. Total headcount, including credit and noncredit students, fell sharply in 2020-2021 before bouncing above where it stood before the pandemic.
