BMJ Refutes Claims Linking COVID-19 Vaccines to Excess Deaths

Jewel City Timesby Jewel City Times
June 7, 2024

Claim: Alex Jones stated in a post on X that the British Medical Journal reported excess deaths following the administration of COVID-19 vaccines, suggesting a relationship between higher vaccination rates and increased mortality.

Fact Check:

The Boston Medical Journal (BMJ), through a post on X, clarified the misrepresentation of their research. The BMJ emphasized that their study did not establish any direct causal link between COVID-19 vaccinations and excess deaths. The research focused solely on trends in excess mortality over time, without attributing specific causes to these trends.

“Various news outlets have claimed that this research implies a direct causal link between COVID-19 vaccination and mortality. This study does not establish any such link.”

The BMJ statement also stated that the COVID-19 vaccines have been crucial in reducing severe illness and deaths linked to COVID-19.
