Senator Rick Scott of Florida came under fire on Friday after posting a campaign ad on X, in which he expressed support for protecting access to in vitro fertilization (IVF).

“Each of my 7 grandkids is a precious gift from God. But sometimes families need help. You can count on this grandpa to always protect IVF. Watch my latest campaign ad” Scott stated.

However, just a day earlier, on Thursday, Senator Scott was among the 46 Republicans who voted against S.4445 – a bill aimed at protecting and expanding nationwide access to IVF.

California Governor Gavin Newsom responded to Scott on X, saying “you literally just voted against protecting IVF yesterday.”

Access to IVF has faced significant challenges across the country following the Supreme Court’s 2022 decision in Dobbs v. Jackson, which overturned the landmark Roe v. Wade decision.
