After its release in November 2022, the Canon EOS R6 Mark 2 became widely regarded as one of the best Canon cameras ever made. Utilizing its 24.2MP CMOS sensor and DIGIC X processor, this mirrorless camera is capable of capturing high-quality videos and photos in 4K and up to 60 frames per second.
However, this camera’s true potential is often overlooked because some of its most sophisticated features are hidden deep within its menus.
To get the most out of your camera, here are five features you may not have known your Canon EOS R6 II was capable of.
1. Get the entire scene in focus
If you’re shooting a style of photography where you want nothing to be out of focus, then the focus bracketing setting is for you. With focus bracketing, your Canon EOS R6 II is able to automatically take a series of shots at different focus levels. After the photos are taken, you simply stack them using focus-stacking software.
After stacking is complete, you’ll be left with a photo that’s in focus in all areas. This feature is useful for macro and landscape photography, where photographers aim for a maximum depth of field. It goes without saying that a tripod is needed since you’ll be taking multiple shots and any movement can ruin your final stacked image.
This setting can be found in the sixth tab of the red menu. By default, focus bracketing will be disabled. To enable it, click on the “Focus bracketing” tab, adjust the settings to your needs, and set the option to “Enable.”

2. Edit your photos in camera
While this doesn’t beat professional photo editing apps, your camera actually allows you to edit your photos directly in the camera. If you navigate to the third tab of the blue menu, you’ll find two menu options named “RAW processing” and “Creative Assist.” Both of these will allow you to select a photo on your camera and apply a range of adjustments.
The creative assist feature allows you to apply filters, change brightness, contrast, saturation, as well as color tones.
RAW processing allows you to adjust your photo’s brightness, noise reduction, image quality, white balance, picture style, color space, clarity, lens aberration correction, and auto lighting optimizer.

3. Automatically fix lens aberration
The lens you use is just as important as the camera itself. However, depending on your lens, your photos may have some unwanted optical distortions. Vignetting, distortion, and chromatic aberration are all common optical distortions that impact the final image.
Luckily, your Canon EOS R6 II has built-in lens aberration corrections that can help fix these distortions. In the fifth tab of the red menu, you’ll find an option called “Lens aberration correction” which lets you settings such as distortion correction and digital lens optimizer.

4. Customize buttons
The Canon EOS R6 II has numerous buttons that often go unused because some photographers don’t find their original features useful. The good news is that Canon allows you to customize almost any button you want on your camera.
For example, the AF-ON button next to the joystick can be customized to set the AF point to the center, or preview the depth of field, or even access the menu.
The button customization setting can be found in the third tab of the orange menu.

5. Boost your ISO range
ISO determines how sensitive your camera is to light, and affects both the brightness and noise of your images. For that reason, ISO is one of the most important camera settings to know.
By default, ISO is limited to 102400. However, the Canon EOS R6 II has a hidden menu option that allows you to extend that range to 204800.
This setting can be found in the “ISO speed settings” menu on the second tab of the red menu.

The Canon EOS R6 II has an extensive menu system with multiple tabs and numerous camera settings that most users have probably never explored before.
We hope this article helped you discover a few new features that will make you love your Canon EOS R6 II even more. Try them out next time you use your camera!
