UC San Diego police reported 31 alcohol-related incidents at the university’s 2026 Sun God Festival, according to newly released incident logs.
Of those, 28 individuals were detained on suspicion of alcohol-related disorderly conduct, two were transported to the hospital for excessive intoxication, and one was arrested for alleged battery against a police officer in conjunction with disorderly conduct. The 31 alcohol related incidents are an increase from the 24 reported at the 2025 Sun God Festival.
Attendees detained for alcohol-related disorderly conduct are typically transported to the Sobering Center, an on-campus detox facility operated during the festival. UC San Diego’s AS Concerts & Events describes the center as a supervised environment for students deemed unable to care for their own health and safety due to alcohol or cannabis intoxication.
Beyond the 31 incidents recorded at RIMAC Field, where the festival was held, an additional six individuals were transported to the hospital for alcohol or drug related incidents at various locations across campus.
May 2, the date of this year’s Sun God Festival, marked the busiest single day for UC San Diego Police in 2026, with the department logging a total of 91 incidents.
The Sun God festival is an annual, highly anticipated event funded by student activity fees. Organized every year by UCSD AS Concerts & Events, the festival features live music and other activities that are open to all students with tickets.
This year’s lineup included Dominic Fike, Julez, Mico, Mike Sherm, and Reverie.
