GLENDALE, CA — The Glendale Police Department launched the much anticipated “Real Time Intelligence Center” (R.I.T.C), the department said in a press release Wednesday.
Staffed with two full time operators, the R.I.T.C is designed to deliver information to officers in real time as well as support detectives with investigations. Glendale PD plans to eventually operate the intelligence center 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the press release said.
“The R.T.I.C. integrates several cutting-edge technologies, including live-stream footage from various public cameras across Glendale, into a single, user-friendly system. The system uses robust analytical software to digest large amounts of information. That analysis generates actionable, real-time intelligence that investigators and patrol officers, supervisors, and managers can then use to deliver a safer and more efficient response to the community.”
The ribbon cutting event was attended by Glendale Police Chief Manny Cid, Glendale Mayor Elen Asatryan, as well as council members Ara Najarian and Vartan Gharpetian. Glendale PD says the project cost $1 million, and was funded “entirely through asset forfeitures.”
