District Attorney George Gascón was confronted at an event today over the lack of arrests following the violent counter-protester attack at a UCLA student protest encampment on April 30th. The encounter was tweeted by FilmThePoliceLA on X, capturing the moment where he pressed Gascón for a response. Gascón replied, “Send it to us, we’ll take a look,” shortly before his Chief of Staff, Tiffiny Blacknell, stepped in to provide her contact details.
UCLA issued a statement after the April attack, confirming that the university had reached out to Gascón for assistance in ensuring that “the instigators will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.” The full statement can be found here.
Despite the public pressure, only one arrest has been made over a month after the UCLA incident.
