GLENDALE, CA — City records show Glendale has opened over 700 enforcement cases related to alleged violations of the city’s gas-powered leaf blower ban that went into effect last year.
A total of 740 cases related to the enforcement of the ordinance have been opened from January to mid-December of 2025, according to records obtained by the Jewel City Times.
While cases appeared throughout the city, records show noticeable clusters of cases in neighborhoods of Glenoaks Canyon, Glenwood, Emerald Isle, areas south of Adams Square, and along the Verdugo Wash.
January 2025 recorded the highest number of newly opened cases, with 137 opened that month, followed by lower monthly totals for the remainder of the year.

Ordinance 6008 was introduced in 2023, prohibiting the use of gas-powered leaf blowers “at any time for any purpose” within the city. The enforcement of the ordinance began on September 1, 2024.
Violations of the ordinance first result in a warning notice, followed by fines of $100, $200, then $500 for repeated noncompliance.
Gas-powered leaf blowers have drawn criticism from Glendale residents, with common complaints about noise levels. The city cited large levels of air pollution, risk of hearing loss, and risk of respiratory illness as some of the reasons for the prohibition.
